    Blessed in NYC

    Hello Salvation Army Xanga World,

I haven't updated in a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time.  I moved in January to New York City, my appointment is The Salvation Army Makle Residence.  It's a women's residence.  We have a few senior citizens and older adults, and many young women.  So far it's a wonderful ministry.  The LORD is so good to me.  I've been exploring the city, and have had a lot of fun.  And my very dear friends from training are the Corps Officers at the Corps I'm soldiering at, right next door.

    So, I'm blessed!!!!!

    Again So Long

I have such difficulty updating regularly.  It's not that I don't have a lot going on, it's just that sometimes there is just too much to write about and I don't know where to start.

I have been busy, I've been helping with Day Camp because they lost one of the counselors that were hired.  I enjoy helping out with Day Camp.  I ministered to a man last week who was struggling with alcoholism, and I was able to send him to an ARC, so I pray that he's doing well there.  Also, I visited a lady today who has destructive arthritis and is pretty much crippled. She has a one room apartment but it's really nasty because she isn't able to clean much.  I asked her how she would feel about some ladies coming over to help her clean her apartment, she said she would be so thankful.  So, I'm going to approach the Home League about that.  I truly love this kind of ministry.  I'm not gifted administratively and I don't enjoy the administrative aspect of officership, so it's nice to be an assistant in that sense.  However, I do have to send out letters to merchants requesting items for our harvest festival auction, I've been dragging my feet on that.

I hope that you all have a wonderful restful weekend, and a glorious Sunday!

  • Hello Xanga World, I'm sorry for not updating for so long!  I actually traveled home to Niagara Falls NY on June 28th and returned this past Friday!  I had a great time at home with my Mom and Dad and brother.  And also got to spend a lot of time with my Grandparents (if your reading this Grandma, I love you!) and my aunts and uncles and cousins.  I have a wonderful family and I'm so thankful for them.  It's just really difficult to be home for so many days, because then I miss them so much when I have to leave.  But God is good and gave me great strength, I didn't even cry when I left!

Now I'm back to work!  It's been so hot here, I'm very thankful for air conditioning and feel so sad for those that don't have it.  I've began taking African Drum lessons on Tuseday nights.  It's really fun, and I'm actually improving.  Tonight was my third lesson.  Our assistant director for Day Camp told me about it and I started taking the lessons with her.  She's actually leaving at the end of the summer to go to grad school in Michigan though, so I'm not sure if I will continue the lessons after she leaves.  I'm not sure if I'm that interested in it.  I guess after a few more classes I will know.  Also, it's a good opportunity to be involved in the community and to be a witness for Jesus, because I'm pretty sure that the Director of the African Arts place is Muslim.  Please pray for me that God will allow me to shine His light in that place.

Tomorrow I'll be going to Philadelphia to DHQ for new officers orientation, although this is my second year in this division.  Our orientation got postponed, postponed and then cancelled last year because of all the Emergency Disaster stuff due to the flooding in the south, I can't believe that was already almost a year ago, wow, time really flies. So, I actually haven't been to DHQ yet at all, and I'm looking forward to it considering I've gotten to know a few of the people that work there over e-mail and the telephone so it will be good to meet them in person!  I have to be ready to go at 6:45AM, so I'm going to bed soon!  Blessings All!!!!!
